Terms of Service
Last updated: 2026-04-21
These Terms of Service govern access to and use of Adopt a Bill during the closed beta. This is a short-form baseline for testing and should be reviewed and expanded before any wider public launch.
The service
Adopt a Bill lets creators publish profile pages, requests, and support items, and lets supporters discover those pages and choose whether to interact with them. Supporter-to-creator payments happen through external payment providers chosen by the creator. Adopt a Bill is not a bank, escrow service, money transmitter, or payment processor for those supporter payments, and it does not hold those funds.
Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 18 years old to use creator features or any adult-oriented parts of the service. You are responsible for providing accurate information, keeping your login credentials secure, and using only accounts that belong to you or that you are authorized to manage.
Creator responsibilities
Creators are responsible for their own pages, descriptions, payment links, and promises made to supporters. Creators must have the right to post the content they upload, must comply with applicable law and the rules of their payment providers, and must not mislead supporters about what a payment means or what a supporter will receive.
Supporter responsibilities
Supporters must use the service lawfully and honestly. You must not submit false claims, fake payment proofs, abusive reports, chargeback abuse, impersonation, or any attempt to manipulate rankings, alerts, or moderation systems.
External payments and third parties
If you leave the platform to pay a creator through Stripe, PayPal, cash apps, bank transfer, or any other third-party service, your transaction with that provider is governed by that provider's own terms and privacy notice. Adopt a Bill may store limited metadata about off-site support actions, such as claims, proofs, reports, or status changes, so that the platform can operate and moderate its features.
Prohibited use
You may not use the service for unlawful activity, fraud, harassment, non-consensual conduct, doxxing, extortion, sexual content involving minors, illegal goods or services, or any other use prohibited by our Content Policy. We may remove content or restrict accounts if we reasonably believe a risk to users, the platform, or third parties exists.
Moderation, suspension, and termination
We may investigate reports, request additional information, remove content, limit visibility, suspend features, or terminate accounts when necessary for safety, legal compliance, fraud prevention, or policy enforcement. We may also preserve or disclose information when required by law or when reasonably necessary to protect users, the platform, or the public.
Content ownership and license
You keep ownership of the content you create, but you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, revocable license to host, store, display, reproduce, and distribute that content as needed to operate, secure, and improve the service. This license ends when your content is deleted, except to the extent we must retain copies for backup, legal, or safety reasons.
Availability and disclaimers
The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not promise uninterrupted availability, perfect accuracy, or that every claim, proof, report, or creator statement will be verified by us. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties that are not expressly stated in these Terms.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Adopt a Bill and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for losses arising from creator conduct, supporter-to-creator transactions, third-party payment providers, user content, or unauthorized access to accounts. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited.
Changes to the service or these Terms
We may update the service and these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post an updated version on this page and revise the "Last updated" date. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
